An Insiders Guide to Woolfest
We took a slightly nostalgic walk down memory lane and found pictures of the other 5 years we traded at Woolfest, and we're so excited to be trading for the 6th year this coming Saturday (May 24th)!
If you haven't gone to Woolfest before and are attending this year, we are so excited for you! 🥳
Before you head out to the Kumeu Showgrounds, we have a few helpful tips to make sure you are prepped for an awesome day.
Cash
Attending Woolfest is absolutely free, but we always recommend visitors bring a little cash. Many vendors have EFTPOS or paywave, but there are some who take cash (and sometimes technology crashes) so it's always a good idea to keep some on hand.
Amenities
The Kumeu Showgrounds have public bathrooms and a very spacious parking lot (and overflow lot.) Vendors will be set up outside the barns with food, coffee and other treats you can purchase and enjoy. The space is wheelchair and pram accessible, but with livestock on site, dogs cannot attend.
Vendors
Inside the Kumeu Showground barns you will find all sorts of vendors. Stalls selling second hand looms, spinning wheels and drum carders. Indie dyers with colourful skeins covering their booths, farmers with bags brimming with raw wool, pre-made woollen garments, pattern book sellers, accessories and groups and clubs demonstrating how to felt, spin, weave and machine knit.
Good To Haves
Making a list of items you'd like to purchase, saving patterns or bringing along copies to make sure you get the correct amount of yarn, and thinking about items you would like to stock up on like: buttons, project bags, pattern books or needles and hooks can help you make sure you don't forget any fibre goodness you need!
