Deep Dive Into Summer Knitting
We reckon summer is good for a few things:
- Recreation (i.e. beach knitting!)
- Linen and cotton projects
- Getting into holiday gift knitting to make that deadline!
With that in mind we wanted to share some summer project ideas along with recommended yarns for warm weather. I even threw a few beautiful crochet patterns into the mix 🙂

One of our all-time favorite summer yarns (and yarns in general!) is Erika Knight Studio Linen. It’s 100% linen, 85% of which is recycled making it a lot softer than most linen yarns. It’s easier to work with, and the finished result is stunning! It’s also 8ply so knits up quite quickly.
One of my most-worn summer knits is my Anker’s Summer Shirt in Studio Linen, which bring me nicely into recommended patterns for this yarn. You could also use one of our lovely cottons for any of these tops such as Sesia Windsurf mercerized cotton, Chaska Tacama alpaca/cotton blend or Rosarios 4 Nature Organic cotton.

If you’re looking for 4ply summer garment recommendations, we have some of those too! Yarns we would recommend for these patterns are linen, silk, wool and cotton blends that are suitable for hot summer weathers: Luxurious Fusion 4ply, Bio Balance, Yarnfloozy Sage, Malabrigo Mechita, Bio Bimbo organic cotton, and Bio Sesia organic cotton. But don’t limit yourself to just those fibres! It may surprise you how well a traditionally “warm” fibre can work perfectly for a summer pattern 🙂
