Join Our Crochet Make Along

We think it’s time to give crochet its moment in the spotlight by hosting our first-ever crochet make along (MAL)!

We’d like to encourage any knitter who has wanted to try crochet or anyone who has hesitated to dive into a crochet garment or larger project to take this opportunity to jump right in. We’ll do our best to support and encourage you along the way 🙂

Join the MAL

To join the Crochet MAL make any project that incorporates crochet (it can be all crochet or a mix of knitting and crochet, etc) and share your progress on Instagram and tag your MAL posts with our handle @loopinewoolco and the hashtag #loopinecrochetMAL2024That’s it!
MAL kicks on Friday 5 April and runs through to Saturday 15 June. As always, there will be a handful of exciting prizes which we’ll share more on later.
We’ll share lots of tips, tricks and inspiration so you can see as we work on our projects too and you can show us what you’ve done!
To help you get started, take a look at some of our MAL inspirations for plush sweaters, stylish accessories and beautiful home decorations below.

Garments

Granny Squares

The iconic colourful granny squares are the main stars on the Fleetwood sweater, Jethro cardigan, Agnes Sweater Vest and Jilly Cardigan. These patterns combine the best of knitting and crochet so you can experiment with your own colour palette on the squares and knit the sleeves and trims for a stylish finish.

A few of the Loopine team members are eyeing up these patterns for the MAL!

Cardigans

We love the cozy texture of the slightly oversized Toni Cuffed Cardi, the classic Everyday Cardigan, and the drapey In the Clouds Cardigan by local designer Grace Forthefrills. Grace also creates YouTube tutorials for all her patterns!

Pullovers

Crochet a classic with the roomy Chainette Turtleneck, use up your yarn stash on this colourful Confetti DK Pullover with four colour transitions (or as many as you like), try the relaxed waves of this Bokabay or the short-sleeved Taroko Sweater with delicate stitches that mimic the landscape of the Taroko National Park in Taiwan.

Accessories

Learn and flaunt your new crochet skills with the triangle-shaped Wilona Shawl with light stitches or the lacey Dewdrop Wrap with delicate eyelets.

We are also swooning over the waffle texture of this Mesa Hat and Scarf crocheted with a Tunisian hook and the cushiony Sparrow Beanie.

You can also make a bright AdventUrous Scarf that’s unique to you by using your yarn scraps.

Home

You can try a modern twist of a classic with the Grannie Goes Large blanket (made as one giant granny square) or blankets where you work on each square individually and bring them together at the end like the Nordic Star Sunburst Blanket, Dahlia Scrapgan and the Battenberg Blanket - perfect for leftover yarn!

Then you can crochet this Scrap Yarn Basket to store your fresh stash of yarn.

You can also start with a smaller-scale project and still work your crochet muscles with Spread the Dishcloth Joy, Stitched Up Make Up Scrubbies or a festive Boho Bunting.

We can’t wait to see what you make!
