Summer Knits and New Yarns

We reckon there’s still enough time to make one more summer knit before we give in to the inevitable change of season.
Why do we love summer knits?
  • They can be warn as layers all year long
  • No sleeves (or short sleeves!) so they’re quicker to knit
  • Due to the lack of sleeves, they require less yarn
  • They are beautiful!
There are so many stunning T-shirt and tank top patterns, both knit and crochet available nowadays for us to choose from. We thought we’d take this opportunity to shout out a few of our favorite summer yarns, both new this year and old classic favorites :)

You can view all of our summer yarns here.

BC Garn Tussah Tweed

This beautiful, lightweight 100% Tussah silk yarn was new to us this summer, and it creates the most dynamic tweedy lofty and light summer garments! We’d highly reccomend Caidree’s Suri Shirt which was designed for this yarn.

Rosarios4 Principe Real

This lovely, soft blend of organic linen, organic cotton and silk makes beautiful drapey summer tops. Shop it here. Check out the Catal Top pattern by Cata Rubke.

Alpaca Yarns Luxurious Fusion

We saw this stunning version of Jessie Maed’s Outline Tee knit up in the Luxurious Fusion, and you can see in the photo how lovely this yarn is- the silk content gives it an extra sheen and hint of elegance.

Erika Knight Studio Linen

Erika Knight Studio Linen is a classic favourite. Alanna has knit 4 summer shirts in it so far! The one pictured above knit by both Alanna and Jenna (shout out to our old friend Jenna!) is Ankers Summer Shirt by Petite Knit. This yarn is a delightful mix of new linen and recycled linen, which makes it a lot softer (and easier to knit with) than most 100% linen yarns. We just love it!

What's New?

We’ve had quite a few new yarns and other products come in to the shop since our last blog, so we won’t mention them all now. But did you know? You can scroll down on our Home Page to the section called “What’s New?” to see the latest additions to our product offering :-)

Quick Shout-outs go to: Happy Go Knitty Āhuru hand-dyed possum/merino blend, Ashford merino/alpaca wool for spinning and felting, Zealana Rimu 4ply (we’ve previously only had the DK), and Amano Chaski cotton/linen/merino blend.

Big Spincycle Restock!

Last but not least… We’ve just had a big restock of Spincycle!
It’s always an exciting day in the shop when this happens, especially when we get brand new colours like this time.
New colours include: Bombolini, Fine Line, Levitate, Sea Spray, and Strawflower
Restocks of popular favourites include: Dirty Little Secret, Dear Diary, Devilish Grin, Miss Me, Purse First, Stay Ready, Syringa, and Valley Girl (plus a stunning batch of Close Call!)
