Summer ShawlAlong starts now!

New Year, New Shawl

Happy new year to our lovely customers 🎉 We hope you had a restful holiday and are easing into 2025.

Our team has been itching to cast on large shawl projects- something about a big, meditative knit that doesn't need to fit precisely like a garment, where you can play with lots of colours and just have fun with your knitting.

So we're kicking off a Summer ShawlAlong!

Pick any shawl pattern, get some beautiful yarn to show off on your shawl and cast on. The KAL starts today, Friday 10 January and runs through the end of March on Monday 31 March.

Share your progress with us on Instagram by tagging @loopinewoolco and #SummerShawlAlong. You can also show us your work in person by popping in to our knitting groups every Thursday 10am-2pm and Friday nights 4pm-8pm. Everyone is welcome and there's no need to register : )

Shawl Patterns & Kits

We've put together some of our shawl picks and yarn kits to inspire you and help you get started. We'll be making these shawls alongside with you so feel free to reach out if you need extra support 🤗

Aurora Cabin Shawl by Stephen West

Alanna picked this mesmerising shawl from the 2022 HiberKnitAlong featuring a cabled slip stitch pattern developed especially for the five contrast colours. The kits feature "Alanna" colours with lots of warm reds and autumnal greens and oranges.

Go Go Dynamo by Stephen West

Catrien's pick is this year's Mystery Knit Along. She had a bit of FOMO after seeing the pattern revealed across so many amazing projects. The Go Go Dynamo is fun, it's filled with contrast and bold geometric details. The kits include "Catrien" colour combos with deep purples and cherry-like pinks.

Artus Shawl by Natasja Hornby

Wiebke's first pick (she is double dipping with two!) is worked using the mosaic technique holding only one strand of yarn. The colours in these kits include classic 'Wiebke' bluey/greens with pops of pink or warm browns and yellow for maximum contrast.

Woven Checks Shawl by Stephen West

Alanna's wildcard pick creates the illusion of self-striping yarn with a woven checks motif of stripes and slip stitches. The colours in the yarn kits include colour changing yarns for more beautiful colour transitions and muted yet bright solid colours for contrast.

Fantastitch by Stephen West

Wiebke's second pick showcases seven colours in a semi-circular shawl packed with textured stripes and slipped stitches. The colours in the kits are three beautiful variations of tonal blues and greens, oranges and purples and earthy shades.

Pressed Flowers by Amy Christoffers

Camila, who has been at Loopine since May (hi!), makes her picks debut with this cheerful shawl. The yarn kits include Spincycle for the contrast flowers and pink, teal or burgundy for the main colour. This clever design is much simpler to knit than it looks, as it features mosaic colourwork where you only use one colour at a time and slip stitches to create the colourwork motifs.

These are just some of our picks but you can choose a completely different shawl pattern to take part in the ShawlAlong. We are also happy to help put together different colour combinations to create custom kits, just contact us to let us know what you'd like!

If you have any questions or would like help with yarn suggestions, feel free to email us shop@loopinwool.co.nz

We think knitting the ShawlAlong into the long summer evenings will be a treat. We hope you enjoy it too!

Happy Knitting 🤗
xx The Loopine Team
