Brushstroke Hat was designed to highlight hand-painted and variegated colorways, combining two of my favorite stitches — brioche and herringbone. Using just one skein of 4ply held double, this hat is the perfect way to show off a really special yarn. 

Materials Needed Yarn

100g skein of 4ply Merino yarn

in a hand-painted/speckled or variegated colorway.

Quantities needed

You will need approx. 227 metres/250 yards total

3.75mm/US Size 5 circular needle (40–50cm long) 8mm/US Size 11 circular needle (40–50cm long) 8mm/US Size 11 DPNs (double-pointed needles)

Removable Stitch Markers x4 (1 beginning of round marker, and 3 in a different color)

Gauge

11 stitches and 9 rows in two inches (in herringbone stitch)

Finished hat measures approx. 50.8cm/20 inches in circumference, and 21.6cm/8.5 inches tall
